Born and raised in Paris, Jean Motell’s journey into the world of photography began in the vibrant underground scenes of Paris and London, where he initially gained recognition as a party crasher at fashion week events.
Jean Motell’s early career is marked by his audacious and unconventional approach to photography. He first gained recognition in the mid-2000s as an underground figure in Paris. Known for his bold and humorous style (disposable camera & polaroids), Motell made a name for himself by sneaking into high-profile fashion week parties and events, capturing candid and often provocative images of celebrities and fashion insiders. His favorite cameras are disposable cameras and polaroid camera.
Jean Motell’s breakthrough came with the release of his photobook “Gatecrash,” which documented his experiences crashing fashion events. This project showcased his unique ability to blend humor with sharp social commentary, earning him a small but dedicated following in the fashion and art communities.
